The Old Rugged Cross is the second DVD from the Gaither Tent Revival Homecoming. Hosted by Bill and Gloria Gaither and filmed on the magnificent grounds of the Billy Graham Library, this quintessential Tent Revival Homecoming features more than 140 of gospel musics most beloved artists. Filmed on Tuesday, May 3 2011 more than 140 Homecoming artists inhabited the beautiful grounds of the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, North Carolina, to recreate an amazing experience. The first Billy Graham Tent Revival took place in 1949 and they were held regularly throughout the next two decades, so just for fun many of the artists at this Homecoming taping wore clothing and hairstyles representing those decades! This unique Homecoming experience features hymns, convention songs and themes that celebrated the spirit of these evangelistic events that impacted so many lives over the years. All our homecoming favourites were honoured to be joined by two gentlemen who led music for those revival experiences, George Beverly Shea and Cliff Barrows, A little more than halfway through the program, a thunderstorm settled in on the big tent, creating a small river in the sawdust in front of the stage and also causing a delay in the program as the crew powered down the sound system for everyones safety. The Tent Revival may not have been the longest running Homecoming taping on record, it definitely went the latest beginning at 7:00 p.m. and concluding at 12:30 a.m. With sawdust floors, a simple canvas canopy overhead and songs that recapture the spirit of the old-fashioned tent revivals of the 1950s and 1960s, this Homecoming gathering celebrates a time-honoured tradition that has impacted countless lives for eternity. This DVD is Region 0 and will play on a UK DVD player.
